Karen Kieltyka and Chris Brown are Kieltyka Brown Photography. We are a couple in life and in business. Our passion for photography began about the same time, as children, when our respective father’s first placed a camera in our hands. But, not so fast, the rest wasn’t history …yet.

Karen had become enchanted by travel as a toddler and as college approached, she decided to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. After graduating from Bryant College, she began working for Marriott International both in the Boston and the Washington DC area. And she traveled, visiting 42 of the 50 states and taking pictures of all the breathtaking sights along the way. Her love of photography was reborn and bordering on compulsion. During a visit to Lake Tahoe, her best friend gently guided her (as only the closest friends can do) towards a career in photography.

She enrolled at Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts to learn the digital aspects of photography. This placed her on the path to meet Chris.

Chris was raised in Wales by a professional photographer and began assisting his father at weddings by age 12. Also around this time, he received a computer kit for Christmas and was drawn into the world of Information Technology. He left Wales for university in London studying computer technology. After a few years of working in the IT industry and traveling in Europe and the Middle East, Chris moved to the US.

He continued working in the computer field and traveled to 35 of the 50 states until he became weary of traveling and he rediscovered photography. Deciding to turn his passion into his profession, Chris attended the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University.

While at CDIA, they were fortunate to study with some amazing photographers who are innovators in their respective specialties. The strongest influence came from two legendary National Geographic photographers, Cary Wolinsky and Bob Caputo who taught them the nuances of story telling with photographs.

In 2005, Karen and Chris launched Kieltyka Brown with a strong belief that their images should tell a story both individually and together.

Karen and Chris have traded their wanderlust for the joys of staying in one place and running Kieltyka Brown. Photographing weddings has brought them through out New England including Martha’s Vineyard and the Berkshires. They are available for travel to destination weddings (ok, they still have a bit of wanderlust).

Their work has been featured in many prestigious publications including Brides Boston and Bride & Groom. They are members of Professional Photographer’s of America and Wedding & Portrait Photographers International.
